At Meatpacking Design Week 2008 closing party sponsored by Cielo, artist and knitwear designer Caroline McKenty debut “Knitted Pliable Plains.” Caroline collaborates with international designers and is a MFA RCA professor at Parson’s School of Design. Using industrial tubing, Caroline loops her material together creating fanciful decorative tree sculptures and unexpectedly crafts plush furniture objects. The unusual free form pieces employ an overscale gauge that amplifies the beauty of knitting and creates an intruiging juxtaposition between art and fashion.
