I’ve been looking for a new download and The Grand Archives has become my Summer soundtrack. As the group began to play in their Pacific Northwest finery on Craig Ferguson the other night, I expected a harder indie-rock sound coming from Seattle.
Instead, I got gorgeous swinging melodies that are reminiscent of ’60s pop. The first song from the album and the one they performed, Torn Blue Foam Couch, underscored the vocal harmonies that I loved from bands like Belle and Sebastian. Check out their myspace page for local performances.
