(Sob!) Mattel had a big promotion where you could trade in your nearly jointless classic Barbie for one with (gasp!) waist articulation. What a revolution! Barbie and I are the same age, and my mixed-messages passion for her (can a feminist be a Barbie-lover?) has lasted from then until now. Happy 50 to me and Barbie both.
