Yesterday was a sensory event participating in Leandro Erlich’s Swimming Pool and MOS’s winning installation ‘After Party’ at P.S. 1 Warm Up Series. Argentine artist Erlich’s Swimming Pool picks up on one of this year’s popular phrase ‘underwater’ describing the global economy. The work is more about a sense of balance or disturbing the anticipated perception than a metaphor for personal finance. You can see more of Erlich’s visual tricks here. The winning landscape ‘Afterparty’ by the design collective MOS installed in the museum’s courtyard instilled a nomadic twist to Queen’s Long Island City. Designed to be ‘urban shelter’ the heavy ‘hut-like’ chimneys become lighter as you get shade within the interior. Lined in a silver metallic mesh reflecting light, the structure framed the local landscape.
