Recently updating my portfolio, I came across this mixed media fashion illustration I created for my friend Meredith Gray. With a beautiful swatch and a little manipulation, the fabric became the illustration. The face was heat transferred onto another fabric while I stitched and pinned the coat. Years ago when I was designing for Adrienne Vittadini, we developed a fun patchwork blazer. Using many yarn dye fabrics, cutting the swatches into doll size pattern pieces and then pinned the jacket silhouette, created the croquis variations. I felt a little like Elsa Schiaparelli who draped her famous bias cut designs on a quarter scale mannequin!
