Via Purple Diary

French designer Olympia Le Tan, daughter of illustrator Pierre Le Tan, grew up in a home rich with books. The first edition art of these literary classics inspired a collection of minaudières. The hand-made “books”, beautifully embroidered with the cover art and lined in Liberty prints, are “published” without pages leaving room to become your clutch. The Kindle or Google digital revolution may display and share more content, but misses the tactile artistry. Le Tan uses the vintage cover designs and makes all of us look smart, without the required reading, to carry a favorite title. Purple Boutique has launched today a Le Tan exclusive title (pictured above) Johnny Purple by John Wyllie about a Royal Air Force squadron stationed in Sumatra in the forties.
