Former rally driver turned hotelier, Emanuele Garosci, chose surrealist designer Phillippe Starck to create the invitation only, Palazzina Grassi Hotel in Venice. Transformed from a 16th century residence, the space twists the city’s classicism with Starck’s humor. While traveling, I’ve had the pleasure of staying in the Starck-Schrager boutique hotels from the Sanderson in London to the Delano in South Beach. Starck’s stylized approach, definitely builds a rarefied world. My favorite details from the Grassi are the glass wardrobes and the Venetian carnival mask motif.
