I just finished an article for Examiner.com on an interesting show at Pratt’s Manhattan Gallery about sustainable clothing. Curated by Francesca Granata and Sarah Scaturro, the exhibition is defined by 3 major themes, “Reduce, Revalue, and Rethink”. Most notable are the designs in this post featuring SUNO by Max Osterweis. Using traditional Kenyan textiles to “upcycle” the cloth into contemporary fashion sewn by African factories. Not only repurposing fabric but training and creating jobs for local talent.
If you’re New York bound January 26, 2010 at 6 pm, the gallery is hosting a free panel discussion with exhibiting designers, industry veterans and moderated by the curators.
