Designer Cynthia Rowley has embraced instant gratification that the online generation brings to fashion. While some continue to lament and sometimes justifiably so due to the confusing signals promoting opposite seasons and high street imitators, designers invest not just talent but a small fortune every season. Eric Wilson writes in today’s NYT about Rowley’s new pop-up shop for the Gargosian Gallery store.
The photo above is one of the concepts that customers can literally cut to measure. Printing on a heavy weight jersey, Rowley is screening selected runway looks photographed front and back on a model from her current Fall 2010 show. Think, fashion within fashion and the self-appropriated designs will be available immediately. Garments are offered already finished or in a kit that you can assemble with label included.
