American Woman

05.12.10 | 1 Comment

As the global economy continues to re-boot, our relationship towards self defined ‘luxuries’ evolve and the fashion industry re-designs its position on our shopping lists. The recent Fall collections appeared more utilitarian pronouncing their value, the Green Movement encompasses not only fair and environmentally correct trade, but espousing slower and less consumption, and social interaction transitions into a more casual dress with work/life morphing into one.

In the future, we can look forward to a curated message that our current challenges signals but this month, both the Brooklyn Art Museum and the Metropolitan Museum of Art celebrate their archives in a joint presentation featuring the American woman in fashion.

Both exhibitions teach a fashion history lesson packaging the societal events with the dress of the day. You can take the virtual time capsule tour watching the Met’s excellent YouTube” />YouTube” type=”application/x-shockwave-flash” allowfullscreen=”true” width=”500″ height=”344″>
