Brooklyn Tweed’s The Exquisite Corpse Project: Collaborative Garment Design
“
I got in contact with a few of my favorite indie-designers to see if they were up for a design challenge: to create a collaborative garment in random sequence working directly off of the piece or pieces that were presented to them from the previous designer. Starting with a general set of garment dimensions provided by me (so that the garment would fit the body at the conclusion of the process) each designer was given complete creative freedom for their portion of the sweater.
Jared Flood of Brooklyn Tweed
When knitwear designer and photographer Jared Flood of Brooklyn Tweed was commissioned for an art-sweater by ESOPUS Magazine produced by the ESOPUS foundation for an upcoming exhibition, he chose a collaborative process. Inspired by the Surrealists of the 1920s, Flood applied the Exquiste Corpse project where multiple artists create a single body of work without being influenced by each other producing spontaneous results.
Flood did only have a few specifications for the design experiment choosing textured rustic sheepswool and garment dimensions.
The result produced a gorgeous one-of-a-kind dolman sleeve cardigan expressing the unique beauty of knitting. The design collective knitters are: Connie Chang Chinchio, Tanis Gray, Carrie Hoge, Melissa LaBarre & Elli Stubenrauch.

This is a lovely concept with an exquisite outcome. Just think if we could apply this theory to world peace or at least some type of unity in our own USA!
