Eating your way through Manhattan and all the outer boroughs is the ultimate New York City experience, and artists Maira Kalman and Rick Meyerowitz re-imaged our ubiquitous subway map with gastronomic destinations entitled New York Sub Culinary Map.
Exhibited at the Pratt Manhattan Gallery, the culinary chart is one of the inventive solutions in the new show, You Are Here → Mapping the Psychogeography of New York City curated by Katharine Harmon, author of The Map as Art: Contemporary Artists Explore Cartography (Princeton Architectural Press, 2009) and You Are Here: Personal Geographies and Other Maps of the Imagination (Princeton Architectural Press, 2003).
From graphic iconography to visual history lessons, contributing artists re-mapped NYC’s emotional terrain. The exhibit is on view until November 6, 2010.
