xNautilus by Rory McCartney, 2010, Oil resin and lacquer on board, 122 x 122 cmNYC has reverted back to winter but these paintings by Rory McCartney from his solo exhibition, “Psycho Boogie” at London’s Arch 402 Gallery through April 28, 2011, keep moving me towards spring.
Stripes, my perennial favorite are beautifully abstracted with the marble like oil resin contrasted by the rigid black and white geometric pattern. McCartney’s site has many more fresh studies combining Op Art designs with his gestural strokes.
