The month of May brings the end of the school year and Parsons The New School for Design is celebrating sharing the design student’s year end projects with the public. Parsons Festival 2011 is a 2 week event showcasing graduating thesis presentations, exhibitions, and critiques for all levels of design and disciplines.

In the school’s 13th Street lobby is “Take A Seat” from Parsons Product Design presenting a full-scale study models of bent plywood chairs that are the result of a six-week project in which students learned the basics of ergonomics, sound construction principles, and finishes. The refreshingly contemporary solutions are inviting especially crafting along the natural lines and grain of the materials.

Go to the event listing page to view all the exhibitions and receptions in the coming weeks. The festival ends with a block party in the final weekend.
