Brooklyn based Interboro Partners will debut their winning submission 'Holding Pattern' at PS1 WarmUp! for the Young Architects Program beginning July 2, 2011.
Culture hounds in NYC and the outer boroughs are making their July 4th weekend pilgrimage to MoMA PS1 WarmUp! beginning this Saturday and throughout the summer. The museum’s courtyard is the main attraction featuring the winning submission of the Young Architects Program that always provokes an alternative space.
We’ve posted some of the preview images from this year’s winner, Interboro Partners, the Brooklyn design team behind Holding Pattern. Taking their cues from the surrounding eclectic Queens neighborhood, Interboro planned the museum’s requirements of seating, shade, and water features to be encased in a twisted rope canopy enclosure. After interviewing the needs of the local residents, the design team chose elements for Holding Pattern that will be re-used by the community long after WarmUp! cools off.
