Pastel artist Ken Streiff's 'Ted Drewes' 31″x21″ will be on view at the upcoming Pastel Society of America's Annual Exhibition at The National Arts Club in NYC this September. Click the image to enlarge. The latter days of summer may be approaching and Ohio pastel artist Ken Streiff frames the sweet evening ritual with his “Ted Drewes” moment. The richly textured rendering contrasted by the midnight landscape lit only by the frozen custard stand’s glow echos a Hopperesque Americana.
We recently visited the completed Middletown, Ohio’s Pendleton Art Centers collective, which brings together local artists in group spaces, galleries and creative classrooms. And coincidently met Streiff preparing to send his piece to be on view at next month’s juried Pastel Society of America's Annual Exhibition at The National Arts Club in NYC’s Gramercy Park.
Earlier this year, I posted a photo essay of the historic Miami River town and pleased to see Middletown’s art movement is energizing their city.

Hi Geoff. It was nice meeting you guys. And thanks for the nice write up. The piece is probably there in NYC now and I’m looking forward to following it and seeing the show.
